This summer, combine a scenic three-hour tour along the shoreline of Rio de Janeiro with a feel-good project: helping to clean up the Olympic sailing venue.

This special offer comes from local tour company EnviRio. “Our goal,” explains cruise director Juan de Feca, “is to take matters into our own hands—while making a profit of course! Many people want to help clean up our Bay, so now we can do it together. When big cameras arrive next year, they will see nothing but beautiful blue water and white sails.”

The S.S. Vairão is a tiny ship that has been carefully customized.

The S.S. Vairão is a tiny ship that has been carefully customized as a cleanup craft. Opening doors have been built into the cockpit sides, allowing each guest easy access to the water’s surface. Special rod holders provide a resting place for rakes during the many refreshment breaks.

As soon as the work is finished, guests will toast their efforts with the Skipper and his fearless crew. Thanks to the generosity of José de Feca, Juan’s younger brother (who runs the nearby Favela Vineyards), there is always a variety of wines on board. (The more traditional Capirinhas are also available at an additional cost.)

The package price includes all the Favela you can drink, cleanup bags, rakes, gloves, an SPF 50 hazmat/bathing suit, and a special one-time sanitizing full-body washdown when the tiny ship returns to harbor.

And for today only, de Feca is offering a special incentive.

“The IOC has promised many, many tickets to the sailing events, in exchange for cleaning,” he says. “We pass these on to the person who fills the most bags.”

Jetpack cleaner in Guanabara Bay

Jet Pack Water Relocators can be both fun and helpful.

To keep the kids entertained, Envi-Rio also offers a few special watersports. Jet Pack Water Relocators will send the young and young at heart soaring high over the Bay, while also sending debris out of sight below the surface. Jetski Lacrosse teaches teamwork and close-boat maneuvering while dragging a flotsam-collecting net between two PWCs. And the local favorite, Sofa SUP, will be available as soon as a sofa is found that is not too waterlogged.

Do your best for our sailors, and then afterward enjoy a taste of the local grape to celebrate—all from the comfort of the luxurious tiny ship, the S.S. Vairão. What could be better for your next holiday?
